Biography

Si-Hui Tan is the Chief Science Officer at Horizon Quantum Computing and a Visiting Professor of the Niels Bohr International Academy at the University of Copenhagen. Prior to joining Horizon, she was a researcher for five years at the Singapore University of Technology and Design and for three years at the A*STAR Data Storage Institute.

Tan holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Physics from Caltech and PhD in Physics from MIT. Her research interest is in quantum information science, which lies at the intersection of quantum mechanics and information theory. Tan has pioneered novel protocols that provides enhancements by harnessing quantum mechanical features, including cryptographic primitives for quantum networks and sensing primitives for quantum radar. She has co-authored 19 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

In addition to her research pursuits, Tan is active in public service. She co-founded the SUTD Postdoc Society and served as its President for a year. She is currently a member and elected Treasurer of the Zonta Club of Copenhagen Multicultural, which empowers women through service and advocacy.
